Just recently I took full custody of my 4 grandhildren. I have a 13 year old of my own. This has always been what family does when there is a need.  They take on all the responsibilities of parenting again. The really sad news about his is. If the family can not bear the financial burden any more. These kids go to foster homes where the government will provide assistance to help raise the child. If the family that has the child needs assistance and they work, guess what they do not qualify. I hope this angers you because it does me. Better yet if these kids go home to their natural parents. Guess what, assistance again. The moral of the story is this. In order for these kids to have any kind of quality life they can not stay with that stable loving family member. We wonder what is going on in society??? eventually these kids end up in a group home or an institution. Sadly enough at one point some family member wanted to help but just have the money to do it.
